Dr. Victoria Ying Zhou was born in Shanghai, China, raised in Toronto. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo, graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Science as well as a minor in Psychology. After college, she then received her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. During her stay in Boston, she trained at East Boston Neighbourhood Health Centre and Dorchester community Health Center where she practised primary care, glaucoma management and co-management of cataract surgeries. At Special Population rotation, Dr. Zhou gained experience in working with patient with intellectual disability, low vision and fitting specialty contact lenses. She provided care to pediatric patients who has multiple disabilities at Perkin School for the Blind. In addition, she also managed ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetes, and foreign body removal during her hospital-based externships at the United States Veterans Affair hospitals in Bedford, MA.
She has successfully completed both the Canadian and American National Board Examinations and is certified in the use of therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. She practiced in Boston before moving back to Toronto.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with family, she also enjoys reading, travelling and yoga. She volunteered at World Vision and helped to advocate the needs of underprivileged children. She is fluent in English and Mandarin, and welcomes patient of all ages.
